Interview with Leigh Ann Napier, Life & Marriage Coach

October 20, 2009 by Tara McClenahan

You  might remember that I featured Leigh Ann in my “Bloggers on the Radar” post.  I was able to get her to slow down long enough to share about her passions in life and her reasons for writing.

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

My name is Leigh Ann Napier.  I’m 33-years-old and live in Lexington KY.  I’m happily married to Mike with one precious child, 3-yr-old Halle Kate and a dog named Chloe (who has issues but we still love her)!  I am a Life/ Marriage Coach with iBloom and my rare free time is filled with family time, learning to cook, reading, photography, being crafty, finding new ways to stretch a dollar, and spending time with friends.

How did you get started blogging?

I started blogging reluctantly!!  I say reluctantly because I consider myself more of a talker than a writer!!  But I got started when I joined iBloom as an associate Life Coach and was asked to join the team of contributors to their blog.

What blogs do you contribute to currently?

I currently contribute to iBloom and Everyday Christian.

What is your personal blog ?

I don’t have my personal one up and running yet although I have started the process. You can bookmark the site and keep checking back for the launch!

What “audience” do you write for?

I tend to write for and coach adult children of divorce, anyone who wants to get married at some point and even some who think they will never get married.  So many woman are walking around with shattered dreams when it comes to the prospect of marriage.  They’ve seen what NOT to do but they don’t have any idea what a GREAT marriage looks like or how to have one.

Why are you passionate about that topic?

How much time do you have?  Mainly because I have seen so many marriages crash and burn in my family and circle of friends.  I’ve also seen so many dry, boring, just-going-through-the-motions marriages.  I am determined to help women build lasting, loving marriages by going back to the instruction manual, the Bible, and to be passionate about their husbands!

So why do you blog?

Blogging allows me to share what is on my heart and what I am learning.  But my main purpose would have to be to encourage other women who may be experiencing the same things.  I am glad to share my struggles or embarrassing moments even if it only encourages one woman.

What impact do you hope to have?

My dream is to give people hope and a vision for a one-and-only marriage, to erase the word “divorce” from married couple’s vocabulary, and to give them the tools they need to succeed in loving each other well for a lifetime.

How do you juggle blogging and your other responsibilities?

I write whenever I think of something.  Sometimes I have to write an idea on a napkin or a grocery receipt.  I enjoy writing while my daughter is in preschool and there aren’t many interruptions.  I blog about what is going on in my life so what I am juggling always makes for great material.

What would you like your blog to look like 5 to 10 years from now?

I would love for it to be something women look forward to reading and that they are quick to pass on to friends and family.  I want it to be a way of spreading the word for the good products and people and encouraging stories I come across.  I would just want it to encourage, inspire, and most importantly, point women to God as their ultimate source for anything and everything they need.

What products or projects are currently in the pipeline?

I’m so excited about something iBloom is launching called iDiscover.  It is a community of women who are exploring what their gifts, talents, mistakes, and passions all mean when you put it all together.  God has a unique purpose for every single woman on the planet and I think the sooner you know what that is, the more you can live into it.  In addition to that, I am working on some products directly related to marriage including a home study program to accompany my audio download Great Expectations and I am planning to complete my first e-book by Christmas.

How can people get in contact with you?

I can be reached via email at leighann@ibloom.us or via phone at 877-212-8628 x707, and if you become a fan of iBloom on Facebook or sign up to receive our newsletter, I’ll be sure to keep you in the loop on the new things going on with me!  I would love to hear from you!
