I’m Joy Smart and this is my bible. I am what it says I am. I can do what it says I can do.
Mother to one handsome 24 year old son and single (been divorced forever). I just turned 48 and gotta say I like this season of my life. The empty nest was weird at first but I adjusted well.
A little of everything is peppered throughout my past and I’m not afraid to share it with you here on the blog. I have a heart for women who believe – or want to – but struggle to find the encouragement they need in the local church.
That said, Joy Smart is a pen name.
I’m not trying to hide anything, let alone myself. I’ve been writing about business and online marketing under my ‘real name’ for more than ten years. Not that I don’t feel absolutely free to share my faith under my own name… I do. But I feel a call to write more and publish books in the Christian genre. A pen name will help me to keep things clear and non-confusing for those who don’t me well.
In March 2012 Women By Grace celebrated ten years of ministry on the webs. Wow. It’s hard to believe.
I remember being a baby Christian at the age of 28. Meeting all those strong, amazing, mature Christian women in church created a hunger in me. I thought to myself, ‘I can’t wait til I can say I’ve been a Christian for TEN YEARS.’ LOL! I guess I thought time alone was enough to work a change in someone.
With EIGHTEEN years of faith under my skin, I can see now how silly it was to assume that length of belief was the important thing. It isn’t.
It’s depth. It’s saturation. It’s about becoming less you – but more beautifully you.
